The glint of the sparkles in the road reminded me to check my gauge.
Freezing.
Surprised that my eyes caught the crystals testing the temperature before my fingertips.
Can't argue.
I've been compromised by Herradura and Rittenhouse and the cold is hardly a factor tonight.
Rallying Raleigh Hills to get to you.

Hexed
I’ve given up,
giving up
music that reminds me of you.
That reminds me of the room
filled with ambiance and glinting star light
and your starry eyes.
Washing over me, like your words
and your arms filled with love
and all the me too, let's do..
Reminiscing in hazy clouds
with bottles of bubbles,
parts of poems and prose.
Freeing myself from the promises
you'd never kept and never meant to.
Thank you, for all your thank yous and
appreciation and proud of yous.
I'm better off reading them in a text
than to be hexed, by you.

Shades of a Summer Memory
The same-siders eating out, bellying up
at the biker dive downtown, all around town.
Two-up going coastal,
kissing, touching, loving, fading into the heat of June.
Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder,
drowning out and out, the noise of the world.
Shoved against the back of the hatch or
strewn out fading in the bed of it.
Dusk into dawn watching the light,
catch the many shades of you.

Backseat Driving
Tail-light facing, uphills facing downslope.
Height ribboning, flowing
sideways, upwards, down ways.
Silence more comforting
than the babble of lips brambling about
things we'll never see on the same plane.

Tekiu: June 2017
Land Tekiu, is a hidden treasure sitting along the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. A shared home between families and opened to friends and friends alike. Games, water sports and drinking shenanigans, all paired with meals of flavor professionals.

Gone Ape, June 2017
A rainy afternoon, seeking an adventure, my partner and I headed north to explore new terrain. Drawn to the idea of exploring below rather than higher altitudes of the rolling mountains and hills, we made out for the Ape Caves. Located in Washington, about an hour and a half from Portland houses the lava tube that the Mt. St Helens eruption left in its aftermath. At almost two and a half miles long, the trek through the cave was a surreal and at times, intimidating. Deafening silence and piercing darkness, it was quite a wonderful experience.
Coastal Lookouts
By far one of my most favorite stops along the coast line is Cape Lookout. Grounds to accommodate day travelers and benches, tables and fire pits to use for the day. Nearby camping areas to house the fatigued and offer breathtaking refuge. And as always, the light on the coast is pure magic.

First time touching west coast waters
The first trip, October 2012, made the to the west coast, exploring Oswald West State park and down the 101 to the tiny town of Manzanita. Breathtaking heights and views of sprawling woods, jutting cliffs and a vast view of uninterrupted seascape.
